The Van Ommeren Room

The Van Ommeren Room

In 1872, entrepreneur Philippus van Ommeren commissioned the present-day villa, establishing Welgelegen among Rotterdam's most distinguished private residences. Today, this room still reflects the elegance and entrepreneurial spirit of the family who first made it their home.

The Van Hoboken Room

The Van Hoboken Room

Named after Jacobus van Hoboken, grandson of one of the Netherlands' greatest shipowners, this room reflects a remarkable chapter in Welgelegen's history. The ornate ceiling paintings, commissioned by the family and still marked with the letter “H”, continue to honour their legacy.

The Jamin Room

The Jamin Room

When Louis Jamin acquired Welgelegen in 1924, he gave the house much of the character it still carries today. The marble entrance hall, the grand staircase and the iconic stained-glass dome remain a lasting tribute to his family's vision. This elegant and spacious private dining room that bears his name is a tribute to Jamin’s enduring legacy of refined style and impeccable taste.

The Library

The Library

The Library houses the story of Buitenplaats Welgelegen and the remarkable people who shaped its history. Books, photographs and historical documents tell the stories of the Van Ommeren, Van Hoboken and Jamin families, while original German records discovered during the restoration offer a rare glimpse into the villa's wartime past. Together, these collections preserve nearly three centuries of history, quietly safeguarded within the walls of Welgelegen.
